Alumni Success Story

Seema Pateel, WordPress Developer

Tell me about yourself. Who are you and what do you do?

I'm Seema, a WordPress Developer who collaborates with designers. My strength is code so I prefer helping designers with their custom coded WordPress websites in either coding it completely or parts that they have trouble with.

What were you struggling with before Designing to Delight?

I was working as software engineer before I moved to the USA, coding and processes are something that I'm not new to. When I decided to start with my web design services I wanted to make sure I could do everything from A-Z for a client. But I had no clue what A, B, C etc was. I knew how to code websites, I know HTML, CSS and such. I googled and found free courses on Hack Design and many other blogs that taught about branding and design. Yet, I was clueless how to make all these pieces fit in. Among my many research results was the DTD website. I found the post extremely insightful. But her free posts taught me A LOT about how she deals with the clients and how she walks a client through her process.

Why did you signup?

So when I saw contents of DTD I knew I'd hit the pot of gold. She covered everything I, as a brand new Web Designer, needed to start providing quality service to my clients.

I had a blueprint that I could use and tweak to suit my personality. I did not hesitate when I decided to sign up. I didn't have the money for it because I was charging my clients too little for helping them through branding and website design :). But I knew that the course would definitely boost my confidence. I wouldn't feel like a scammer charging more if only I knew what I was doing.

What was your experience with the course?

I consumed the entire course in a day and I've been going back to it. I no longer do branding but I go back and refer to parts of the course just so I can re-learn/refresh how to handle situations with clients. I do design websites and I go back to this course if I feel I'm stuck on how to deal with a page or a section of a page to make it most relevant to my client's needs. The bonuses that we get alone was worth a lot more than I've paid for the course. And any improvements to the course is something we get for life. So I have a resource that helps me stay up to date even though I don't do branding.

Where has DtD had the most impact for you?

My confidence. There was none and DTD gave me the confidence to double my package prices every 6 months.

I was able to create clear process that has made me not struggle with clients. This makes me look like a professional, someone who knows what she's doing. Happy clients always bring in more referrals 🙂

What would you say to someone who's thinking about taking the course?

  • If you're not happy with the kind of clients you're getting most often then you need this course.
  • If you're someone who wings it with clients because you feel lost when you try to figure out your process then you need this course.
  • If you're someone who wants to increase your package pricing and you're not sure how to do it then again, you definitely need this course.
  • If you want to feel polished in how to take care of your clients through your services even though you've only worked with 1 client so far, you need this course to make you feel like a premium service provider.
